Ellipsis - Monday Photo Shoot: Winter Days - ?

Carly from Ellipsis chose WINTER DAYS as our theme this week. I was tempted to dig into my snowstorm folder from December, but thought I'd show you what winter is looking like here today. Blue sky. Temp around 60 degrees. A spring tease. Flowers, buds and promises. I know Carly wanted to see cold wintry things, but I'm pretty much ready to move on!

Witch hazel - the scent is heavenly!

Any day now the daphne will bloom - another heavenly scent.

Yet another iteration of echinacea (coneflower).

I hope by next year I'll know the names of all these plants in our yard!

Sepia Scenes 02-04-09: Swantown Inn

I've grown fond of sepia tinting on a number of photos I've seen around the blogosphere. I've played around with it on some of my shots and really like the effect. So I decided to join Sepia Scenes for the first time. Hosted by Mary T, who also hosts the fabulous Ruby Tuesday.




This is The Swantown Inn Bed and Breakfast in Olympia, Washington, where we stayed over the weekend (the hospitality was excellent!). The old Victorian/Queen Anne Revival home just begged for old fashioned-looking photos. Be sure to click on them for the full effect.
