I have stumbled upon so many gifted blogger photographers who take pictures of pedestrians...have to strike up the nerve...still kinda scared of being looked at as wierd and/or extremely lonely

Ah, Leah - I just feel like "who cares what they think??" - if I'm doing something up close I always ask permission and people almost always say yes.
And I'm fairly memorable, as I'm traveling around on my red mobility scooter!
