Portland is awash with wonderful colorful murals. Here's one on a garage in front of an apartment building. I don't know who the artist is, and it changes from time to time. The art on this side reminds me of some of Shaun Tan's art.

Here's another colorful work of art in our neighborhood.

The Memorial Lifehouse, a solar-powered lighthouse with a shrine dedicated to Matt Schekel, an 18-year-old bicyclist who was killed by a vehicle at the corner of Southeast 37th and Taylor; a tiled “love bench” big enough for two to sit very close; and a “life cycle” wheel, made by his mother, telling the story of Matt's life.

At the base of the bench are bike pedals embedded into the ground.
