Mirror, mirror on the...lawn?

I noticed this odd mirrored post at the edge of a neighbor's yard and had to photograph it!

Study in Blue Shadow

Shadow Shot Sunday2

I love colored shadows. Yesterday morning the sun through the cottage window played with a blue glass sitting on the table and made some exquisite shadows on the floor. I expanded on the theme and added a couple more blue items - and Liza had to get into the act too.

Liza's Spring Vacation

Liza met two new cousins this week on our travels and was reacquainted with another. She was not at her best; she's very territorial and protective, and wasn't willing to share space with the young Blackie or the elder Charlie and was not at all interested in playing with Kona the puppy. She had a great time with "Grandpa" and with "Aunt" Pam - proving again that her people skills are far better than her dog socialization skills.

Liza jumps up on Dad's lap for cuddles and treats.

Liza peeks out from inside a hollowed out cedar tree at one of our rest stops.

Mr. Blackie pretends he's a lap dog. Liza tried to ignore him during our visits.

Bonnie wrangling Liza and young Kona - Tommy Thompson trail in Anacortes.

A basket full of Cavalier King Charles spaniels passed us on our walk/scoot on the Tommy Thompson trail. There were two more in addition to the four in the trailer. Liza wasn't impressed.

One more in the bike basket.

Charlie (the elder) watches as Liza helps herself to his toys.

She was fond of shaking the chicken to death.

Weekly Winners July 24, 2011

Photos for Lotus's Weekly Winners are from a variety of activities this week. The beach, the coast aquarium, the last gathering of the children's cohort and families and the farmers market.

Jelly love

So nice of the designers to provide the beautiful blue background.

Jellies are fascinating. No brains. They aren't called jellyfish anymore because of the misnomer: they aren't fish.

Anemone, another of my favorites.

I was hoping I could fool viewers into believing I was SCUBA diving.

The weather wasn't great but we managed one glorious sunset.

These four wonderful kids will be "graduating" to preschool in a month. We'll miss them!

Ms. P and her mama.

Plenty of food for these guys. They may be scavengers but I love 'em. It's a nostalgia thing.

When you're short, you learn to compensate.

Beautiful beets.

Today's Flowers: 05-30-10 - Peonies and more.

Today's Flowers hosts can be found here.

I'm happy to be the guest friend for Today's Flowers. Welcome newcomers!

The peonies are in bloom here in Portland. The robust flowers don't last long, so I felt the need to capture them for posterity.

I love to get right down inside a flower and see what's in there.

I thought this looked like little naked birds in a nest.

And, for something completely different, here's our dog, Liza Jane, shining as the flower girl at her first wedding.

Liza Jane is a year old today

From this (Liza's first day here):

to this. Our little girl is growing up!

She's such a bundle of joy and energy! And we're so lucky to have her.

Camera Critters - 10-24-09

Camera CrittersThis meme is all about photos of animals/critters.
Visit the Camera Critters website for more wonderful critter photos.

Laurie is knitting Liza a sweater. Liza is either telling her to hurry 'cause it's getting cold - or that she won't be caught dead in a sweater!

First time on the beach, puppy Liza runs, terrified, from ocean waves. Proof she's not part Lab.

Ruby Tuesday - 09-29-09- Liza Jane

MaryT/theteach hosts this weekly event - photographs of all things red.

Liza is now five months old, still with the rakish ear. She hasn't decided if she wants to wear them up or down, so for now one of each will do. This was her first trip to the beach. She loved the sand, but the big waves? Not so much.

She has an appointment with the vet on Friday. She thinks she's getting sprayed.
