Photostory Friday - Instant Garden

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Sometimes we don't get our vegetable seeds started in a timely manner. Then we resort to our local nursery stock to create our instant vegetable garden.

I supervised (and documented) last night as Laurie planted.

Adding used coffee grounds to the soil, courtesy of one of our (many) local coffeehouses.

Stirred, not shaken.

Voila. Tomato plant.

This method does have its instant rewards. This marigold even came with its own ant.

It's own ant? Wow, in this tough economy, they're doing everything to lure you in aren't they?

I was able to get mine planted a few weeks ago..first one ever...what ever it takes to get one planted I say! Love the ant...did you have to pay extra? hehehe

Yes, we just couldn't resist that free ant. If it'd been a ladybug, I would have even paid extra!

Yes, I'd pay extra for a ladybug too!! I haven't seen many up until now? I hope your plants will thrive on the coffee grind, I would too if I was a tomato! LOL!

We had to resort to seedling from the nursery for tomatoes, french beans and cucumbers this year.

At least you have garden, even if it was started before you actually owned it!

Anything to get it in!
Every time I think it is warm enough to plant, the weather pulls a mean trick on me like today, super cold and even a bit of snow in JUNE when it has been so hot we played int he sprinklers!
Love the free ant!
