A to Z Challenge: the Letter T

This meme comes from Martha at Menagerie. The idea is to shoot a photo (or more) for each letter of the alphabet; we move on to a new letter every two weeks, more or less.

Today = T
(Click on the photos for a tastier view.)

T for testing the dough - it's ready!

T for twist (actually, it's braided)

T for tasty treat!

And now for something completely different: T for Towne Storage

Ellipsis - Monday Photo Shoot: Watching the Clock

Carly at Ellipsis said:
Here is an easy one folks, grab your cameras and show me the time. A clock, a watch, an hourglass, the clock on your cell phone, the clock in the town square. If it tells time, it will be perfect!

Extra Credit: Show me a clock with your favorite time of day on it.
Oh I just couldn't resist this.

It does show my favorite time of this century! I'll be back later in the week with my real entry.

Edited - Sunday January 4 (Just 16 days now!).

Here are the rest of my clock photos. These are both old pocket watches my dad gave me. One was his father's and the other I think was his grandfather's.

Great Grandpa Grayum's Elgin pocket watch with a leather fob.

Grandpa's Howard pocket watch.

Grandpa's watch opens like a locket.

Grandma's name, Norma, inscribed inside.

Check out other clock watchers at Carly's site.

Macro Monday: 12-29-08 Evergreen

Macro Monday - hosted by Lisa

Click photos to enjoy larger.

Some sort of pine in our neighborhood, right after the snow melt.
This is where it came from:

A highly manicured tree. Don't you love the way the snow echoes the shape of the tree?

Shadow Shot Sunday 12-28-08

I couldn't decide between the b&w or the color version of this. What do you think? Click photos to enlarge appreciation.

Paperwhites bloom indoors in December.

Edit: At the suggestion of some of my wonderful visitors, I gave sepia a chance.
I like this! It takes the harshness out of the B/W and tones down the offish colors.

PhotoHunt - Squeaky

This week's PhotoHunt assignment: Squeaky

This hinge belongs to the cupboard that houses my coffee paraphernalia. It has a funny little squeak when I open the door - not an obnoxious one, but in a friendly greeting soon-you'll-have-your-coffee sort of way. I don't plan to oil it.

In my search for something squeaky this morning, as I came into the house I heard a strange intermittent squeaky beeping noise - and discovered a worn out battery in the smoke detector.

Visit some of the other squeaky entries here.

Camera Critters - 12-27-08 Yogi Squirrel

Camera CrittersThis meme is all about photos of animals/critters.

In between snow storms last week, I watched this squirrel grooming herself in one of our walnut trees. I had the zoom lens on and captured what now looks to me like a yoga routine. See what you think.

Round Robin - Toys!

Our theme for this round is favorite toy. Well, I hit the jackpot with this one, since my partner Laurie is a family childcare provider. We have very cool toys in our house! Be sure to click on the photos for the full effect.

This is sort of a puzzle, but you can put the pieces together any way you want to and make an unlimited number of cool geometric designs.

Ball Tracker. Endless hypnotic fun.

Marble thingy (Laurie couldn't remember the name).
Much noisier than the Ball Tracker - but very fun to photograph.

Be sure to visit other Round Robin participants.

Skywatch Friday 12-26-08

I missed my opportunity to catch the sun while it was (briefly) out today. Now it's back to a gray flannel sheet. This flicker was in the apple tree watching the sky too. Click on the photo to get a better view of her.

Thematic Photographic - 12-24-08 - Holiday

From Carmi at Written Inc.:
...our newest Thematic Photographic theme, holiday. It's something that can mean many different things depending on how you choose to look at it... May your Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa or whatever you're celebrating be a perfect opportunity to reconnect with the folks who matter most.

I love the last sentiment. Even though I haven't even sent my cards yet (so, they're New Year cards!) I love receiving them, noticing the varieties and the personalities that shine through each one.
