Weekly Winners - 01-18-09

I've been a photo-shootin' fool this week. Here are some of my favorites. Click on photos to enlarge for better details.

Really Good Stuff - a resale... no a vintage...no, a second-hand... really - a junk store - in my neighborhood lends itself to some fun photos.

The resident cat - probably grew so large from eating rodents.

Need an ancestor or two?

$500 or 25 cents?

OK, raise your arthritic hands if you remember these roller skates!
The top ones have plastic wheels, but the ones on the bottom -
steel, for real skaters (OK, so that's all there was when I was a kid).
To adjust the size of the skates, you needed a skate key.
It was quite fashionable in my grade school
to wear your skate key on a chain.
It could also double as your hopscotch marker.
(Skate key image stolen courtesy of Google Images.)

Someday your Mac will be tinted sepia.

Just two doors down from Really Good Stuff is a retro shop - like night and day. Also like a time warp.

Who didn't have a clock like this in their living room in the sixties??!!

My other favorite pastimes, after a long afternoon of photo hunting.

Taken through the viewfinder of a kaleidoscope.

Very cool photos! I love the idea of instant ancestors. And the "someday your Mac will be tinted sepia" is very funny.

I think I would love that store. Now that Melanie song will be running through my head all day "I got a pair of brand new roller skates, you got a brand new key." Ha!

Those are some killer shots. I love "vintage" stores lol That pony ride is insane....$500? Holy smokes.

And I don't even want to think about seeing Mac in sepia...oh, heavens!

You have some definite winners here. I love all things vintage and you've certainly captured some. And in such a way that simply draws one in. Kudos!

Such great shots! What a fun place to poke around and look. I remember those roller skates, and I love the humor of the ancestor pictures. :)

Oops!
Can't believe I haven't commented yet! I loved them Terri, I told you yesterday, I'm way too shy to take pictures in a shop but you're not!! And I love them all, the instant relatives made me chuckle! And I love the sepia, that's a great touch!

Jientje, I thought of you when I did the sepia on the typewriter. That's my favorite one of the bunch!

I have more of the junk store, will post more next week. Thanks everyone for visiting and commenting.

Oooh Terri,

I LOVE the shots from the antique shops (which happens to be one of my very guilty pleasures). After seeing all the goodies in your photos, I'm thinking I need to do an antique "road trip" to Oregon! LOL!
